The US Sports Institute (USSI) is the number one provider of sports programs and camps in the USA. We are delighted to announce our affiliation with the US Tennis Association (USTA) The USSI tennis coach will able to follow a curriculum laid out by the USTA - The Quickstart programme is very similar to the LTA's Mini Tennis structure, focusing on reduced court sizes, age appropriate equipment, and a high emphasis on rallying. All USSI coaches must have a minimum of at least three years tennis and coaching experience. LTA coaching level 2 or equivalent is a requirement for this position as you will be required to deliver sessions to groups of beginners independently. Interested? Then read our FAQs and Apply today! Frequently Asked Questions How long are the work contracts?USSI offers tennis coaches the opportunity to come to the US to coach for an 8 month period. This allows candidates the opportunity to work on our spring and fall clinics, coaching people aged 3 to adulthood.What will it cost to come the the US?USSI provides an extremely competitive compensation packages which includes your accommodation, transport, and a free return flight . You will be responsible for booking your visa interview at a cost of around $131 (at time of writing), you will provide a recent police background check, and you will be responsible for your health insurance for your time in the US; typically costing $200 for the duration of your contract.What do I receive from USSI as part of my employment contract?* In addition to your visa, USSI will provide each individual with the following:* Accommodation for the duration of your stay. * Return airfare from an airport of USSI's choice (typically London) * Vehicles to travel to and from your work locations. * Quality coaching apparel. * An incredibly competitive pay rate - including a seasonal bonus scheme second to none. * Ongoing coaching development led by our team of senior coaching staff. Where will I stay?USSI has a number of houses throughout our different regions which we use to accommodate our staff. They are all fully furnished with most mod-cons provided. Each accommodation will house several of our management, soccer and tennis staff and you will become part of the community during your stay with us. USSI operates out of New Jersey and New York on a year-round basis and you will be placed in any one of our New York houses. During summer camp season you may be required to work in other states for week long camps.Will I need to drive?YES. Every coaching location you will attend requires you to drive to get there. Whilst not all of our coaching staff drive, if we receive two similar applications, we will look to give preference to the driver due to the nature of our work. Only a limited number of non-drivers can be offered positions.What will my job entail?Tennis coaches will typically work on evening and weekend programs for children and adults. Although you may work with adults on one-on-one sessions, the majority of coaching hours will be made up with groups of children aged 5 to 14.What will I wear?At USSI, we pride ourselves on the quality of program we provide. We look to project that image through the way we look on the field. Each coach will be provided with full coaching apparel in order to look the part on the field.Will I improve as a coach?YES. Our staff will receive ongoing training to ensure they are given the tools they need to perform, but also to improve as a coach. Each person will receive our comprehensive coaching manual filled with drills and sessions for all age groups. On top of all this, the USTA will take part in our orientation to instruct coaches on their award winning curriculum.What will the weather be like in the US?For 9 month candidates, you will experience the entire spectrum of weather conditions. The start of the Spring can be cold and snowy. This gradually changes throughout the season leading up to the Summertime. Summer in the North East is hot and humid with temperature in excess of 100 degrees a real possibility. As the Fall approaches, the weather cools again, and by the time you leave in November the weather will regularly be below freezing.Do I get any holiday or vacation time?YES. Our coaches receive up to two weeks of paid vacation for a 9 month contract. Make the most of your time off to travel the States or to visit other reachable parts of the Americas.What do I need to work for USSI?* Significant experience coaching tennis and playing the game.* Must currently hold or have obtained their LTA Coaching License or Registration, or hold a university degree by time of visa application (typically November). * Should hold a full driving licence with driving experience preferred. * Must have a passport valid for longer than then length of the job you are applying for. * Should have a clean criminal background (Successful applicants will be required to obtain a Subject Access Form / CRB check prior to arrival in the United States). |
The time I have spent for the past three summers working for the US Sports Institute have been amazing. The experiences and enjoyment of the camps gave me the opportunity to improve immensely as a coach. Through coaching a wide range of sports it has enabled me to further my knowledge and keep developing my skills. The weekends also offer you the chance to visit America or just relax and enjoy the time off. Overall it is a fantastic way to spend the summer!
